OTTAWA — This coming Monday, local solar groups and members of the public will be toasting the sun with a pint of Beau’s All Natural’s soon-to-be-solar-powered beer at a Solar Soirée. The celebration marks the visit of two community power experts from Europe, who will discuss their years of experience with the renewable energy co-operative model, which is still relatively new here in North America.
Guests Dirk Vansintijan, of EcoPower (Belgium’s largest renewable energy co-operative, with over 43,000 members), and Roric McCorristin, Program Director for The Climate Network at the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Washington, D.C., will take part in a panel discussion and Q&A session, moderated by CBC’s Ian Black. Local solar companies will also be on hand to answer questions from the audience. A reception will follow.
